Full course description
This course provides the necessary foundations for researchers to answer current and future research questions and, ultimately, to advance our collective knowledge. Just as responsible, ethical research methodologies are essential to any research study, so are the fundamentals of research essential to understanding proper methodologies in the first place. This course prepares participants to become independent investigators by teaching practical skills, such as: ethics training, choosing an appropriate research methodology, drafting a research question, evaluating source materials, ranking supporting evidence and conducting a comprehensive literature review.
By the end of this course, participants should be able to:
Exhibit knowledge and understanding of ethical safeguards for human subject research.
Describe the purpose of sampling in research and how it applies to different types of research methodologies.
Identify a research problem and formulate a targeted research question to address it.
Conduct a comprehensive search of online databases.
