Full course description

Have you ever found yourself staring at the blinking cursor on a snow-white computer screen? Do you dread discovering your own writing mistakes in a press release or an article manuscript? Well, step out of the fear-induced shadows and into the light with this course on mastering the fundamentals of written expression! We will focus on eight key genres of nursing leadership writing: the report, the press release, the fact sheet, the position statement, legislative testimony, the literature review, the op-ed, and the non-research article. Because each genre has its own distinctive characteristics and keys to its successful crafting, we’re employing the advice of experts in each genre, who we will interview each week for our participants. The course will include helpful “how-to” pointers and exercises to cultivate your confidence and preparedness for any written communications that you may be called upon to compose.

Course Objectives

By the end of this course, the participants should be able to:

  • Appraise and master the fundamentals for authoritative written expression among regulatory leaders;
  • Evaluate the different written genres commonly required in leadership roles, along with their respective characteristics and requirements;
