Full course description
Developing an effective exam is more than just writing questions to quiz an examinee’s knowledge. To effectively measure ability, you need to ask carefully designed questions. In Asking the Right Questions: Measurement Strategies for Exam Development, Hong Qian, PhD, PMP guides learners through developing different item types, determining appropriate scoring rules, interpreting score reports, and assessing test validity. Using the NCLEX as a reference, the exam development phases are broken down into easy-to-understand concepts that learners will apply to writing and refining their own exam items.
Course Objectives
By the end of this course, learners will be able to:
- Describe the process of exam development and identify modalities of item writing, scoring, and test delivery.
- Analyze item qualifications and discriminate between scoring rules as well as test delivery methods for fairer examination outcomes.
- Evaluate diverse exam score reports to better interpret scoring outcomes for more effective test preparation.
