Learners will come away from the course with a number of new concepts to apply to composing questions and designing questionnaires. The newfound knowledge will enable learners to improve the quality and amount of data collected and help ensure that the question asked actually captures the data that the learner is trying to collect.

Course Objectives

By the end of this course, learners should be able to:

  1. Describe the fundamentals and guidelines for developing effective questionnaire questions.
  2. Evaluate various types of questions commonly used in surveys/questionnaires.
  3. Place survey questions in the appropriate and most effective order.
  4. Develop a brief questionnaire on a topic of interest, applying the principles of question and survey design.
  5. Critique the strengths and weaknesses of example surveys and peer questionnaires and provide suggestions for improvement.

This course will have two live sessions. Attendance is not required, but is highly recommended;

  • Tuesday, April 15th, 2-3 p.m. CST
  • Friday, May 9th, 1-2 p.m. CST
