Full course description
Upholding the Standard: Professional Accountability in Nursing is an interactive course that reviews a nurse’s responsibilities in their duty to care for patients. Nurses in the U.S. and its territories, who have been ordered by the Nurse Regulatory Body (NRB) to take this course, will learn about: the Nurse Practice Act, the nurse's scope of practice, promoting patient safety, protecting patient confidentiality and privacy, maintaining boundaries and avoiding social media violations. The realistic cases and interactive exercises provide opportunities to apply the concepts learned in each lesson, enabling the nurse to have a better understanding of the different facets of nursing regulation.
Course Objectives
By the end of this course, participants should be able to:
- Model behaviors of professional accountability in nursing practice.
- Support actions that safeguard patient privacy and confidentiality in nursing practice.
- Evaluate behaviors to establish and maintain a therapeutic relationship with patients.
- Interpret appropriate and inappropriate use of social media in professional healthcare settings.
